Combat Leadership Book Series

My name is Mike Ettore. I am a retired Marine Corps Infantry officer, with 24 years of enlisted and commissioned service (1974-98).  I am in the process of writing a series of books on the topic of combat leadership. Some of topics that will be included in these books are listed below:

- Rites of Passage: The Test of Combat
- The Profession of Arms & Being a Professional Soldier
- What Makes an Effective Combat Leader?
- Professional Competence & Sound Judgement
- Training Effectively for Combat
- Courage: Moral & Physical
- Mental Toughness & Warrior Spirit
- Physical Toughness & Resilience
- Physiological Response to Combat
- Dealing With Casualties
- Dealing with Allied Forces and Civilian Populations
- Expectations of NCOs, SNCO and Officers as Combat Leaders
- Short & Long-term Psychological Effects of Combat

Interviews
These books will contain lessons, anecdotes and advice gained from interviews of credible combat leaders and front-line Warriors. The interviews will follow an outline that will ask questions about topics most germane to the development of combat leaders at the NCO/SNCO and Junior Officer levels. My goal is to produce the type of books that all of us would have benefited from reading as young Warriors, before we initially faced the Test of Combat.

Contact Me
Please consider doing an interview with me via Zoom, so I can record your thoughts on this topic and use them appropriately in various books in this series.

Please contact me via email [email protected] with COMBAT INTERVIEW in the subject line. Please describe your combat experience and your qualifications to be interviewed for these books. I will respond with additional details regarding the conduct of your interview.

My Intent
I've already authored several other books on leadership, but these will be the most important books I ever write.  If 40 years from now, a young, exhausted Sergeant leading a squad through the Fog of War remembers a lesson contained in one of these books, my bleached bones will rattle with satisfaction!

Thank you for considering my request for an interview!

Semper Fidelis,
Mike Ettore
